Installing Man Pages for Library Functions and System Calls

by manojgumber

By Default, the man pages for library functions and system calls are not installed in ubuntu. If you are a programmer , these man pages are a constant source of help. You can install these man Pages manually by the packages  “manpages-dev” and “glibc-doc”

These man pages describe the Linux programming interface, including
these two sections:
2 = Linux system calls.
3 = Library calls (note that a more comprehensive source of information
may be found in the glibc-doc package).

Contains The GNU C Library Reference manual in info and html format
as well as the man pages for libpthread functions and the complete
GNU C Library ChangeLog.

  • Easiest way – Install packages using synaptic
  • sudo apt-get install manpages-dev
  • sudo apt-get install glibc-doc
